Notice nature

Your surroundings can affect your sense of well-being for better or worse, even if you’re not fully conscious of it happening.

People often feel positive emotions, such as connectedness, hope and awe, when they’re in natural settings. You can strengthen these feelings by taking time to notice and really feel them.

For the next seven days, try paying more attention to nature, following this lovely, practical exercise from Greater Good in Action.

Top tip: You don’t have to put aside extra time to spend outdoors to do this exercise; simply notice the nature that’s already in your life, whether it’s a scenic view from your window, a park down the road or a houseplant.
